God, Mammon, and That Pesky Camel October 18, 2008 J. Whelan (New York, NY USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I doubt that buying this book will make you a millionaire, but it will probably not hurt the finances of Dr. Anderson. His goal is to make a quick buck by saying what he thinks you want to hear. Anderson's goal is not to follow Jesus' teachings, but to explain them away. Jesus said you cannot serve both God and Mammon. Anderson's idea is that since God actually wants you to serve Mammon, there is really no contradiction. The rich have long been understandably uncomfortable with Jesus' many sayings about wealth, including the one about the camel and the eye of the needle. That is why, from the 15th century onward, there arose a legend, devoid of historical or archaeological support, that the "eye of the needle" was in fact a narrow gate in Jerusalem, through which a camel COULD in fact pass, but only if it was unloaded and brought to its knees. But Dr. Anderson comes up with a variant of the legend I never heard before (he does not give his source). He claims the "eye of the needle" was a rock formation through which a camel could not pass unless it was blindfolded. I'm not sure what the blindfold signifies, but the wealthy and the wannabe-wealthy will be happy with the implications of this variant: not only can the rich enter the Kingdom, but they can bring their baggage along. Yes, the good things in life are good, and all good things come from God. But when the supply of good things are limited, good people do not try to grab for themselves an unfair share of the pie. This in the final analysis, is what becoming "rich" really means, and it cannot be reconciled with "Love thy neighbor as thyself".
One Amazing Book October 3, 2008 T. Hunter (AZ) This is one of those books that is potentially life changing. I am impressed with the way the author ties money management to biblical principles. I feel I received an education in both religion and the handling of money. I am using many of the principles in this book, and can already see them at work making positive changes in my life.
Becoming a Millionaire God's Way October 2, 2008 E. Nichols (Apache Junction, Az) Becoming a Millionaire God's Way: Getting Money to You, Not from You This is an excellent study on becoming finacially literate. Thomas Anderson explains the importance of where and how we use money. I know Thomas Anderson well, and know that his advise works, because that is how he did it himself. I highly recommend any of Thomas Anderson's books, I have read several, and find them all helpful in improving my life.
Becoming a Millionaire God's Way September 20, 2008 Serena Crosland (Chandler, AZ USA) This book was a life changing experiance for me. I learn how finacianlly ililerate I was and that there is a better life avalible for anyone who wants to take the oppertunity to learn about it. It opened a lot of doors from me and showed a new ways of thinking. The author wrote it in such a pleasent way that it was hard to put it down. He used examples that I could apply to my everyday life and helped me get control of my finacial situations. I recommend this book for everyone looking to get control back as well.
